8 ways to upgrade your bathroom on a budget

Your bathroom should be the room that feels like a sanctuary and a luxurious space to unwind in. Most of our bathrooms do not feel this way so here are 8 ways you can upgrade your bathroom on a budget!

1. Install or upgrade cabinet hardware

Installing or upgrading the hardware on your cabinets is an easy and affordable way to make a big impact in your bathroom. There are so many finishes and styles to choose from so go with a finish that is currently in your home or change up the metals and make this space different and feel unique. My go to website to purchase hardware for my clients and myself is www.build.com they have thousands of pull and knob options for your drawers and doors. It might be overwhelming to choose something but mix it up and with both pulls and knobs and even pick a different pull for top drawers as bottom drawers. There are no right or wrong answers so have fun!

2. Peel & Stick Tile

Tile has come a long way over the years and now there is even a way to transform your space without all the demolition of ripping out tile or your walls. Peel & Stick tile comes in many patterns and sizes so find one that you love and have fun with it. This is also an easy weekend project you can take on yourself. Here on The Turquoise Home you can find step by step instructions.

3. Peel & Stick Wallpaper

On the topic of peel & stick, there is now a really cool product called peel & stick wallpaper. This is an extremely easy version of the typical wallpaper that everyone knows about. Install for this is honestly a one person job and can be done in just hours. There are many products, styles and patterns out there and so many companies that sell them. I installed some peel & stick wallpaper I found on clearance in my daughters bedroom a few weeks ago. You just need to make sure you match up patterns if there is one so it doesn't look off. Here is an easy tutorial on Thrifty Decor Chick where she gives you step by step instructions.

4. Frame Mirror

Another cheap and easy way to upgrade your bathroom is to frame out your existing mirror. There are couple of ways to do this but the easiest way is to add moulding around the mirror or even simple wood. Make sure you paint or stain both sides of the wood as the back will show up in the reflection. Check out Making Home Base for easy DIY instructions.

5. Add Funny Artwork

There are so many ways to dress up your walls and art work is one of them. There have been many websites and companies that have come out with funny and different kinds of potty humor artwork. This is one way to welcome your guests and give them a laugh while "taking care of business" Here on Etsy you will find several different sellers and their homemade designs. Of course if you have your own Silhouette or Circut you can make these yourself!

6. Paint Vanity

Another update you can do to your bathroom is to paint your vanity. Many bathroom vanities come in the builder paint or stain color and don't usually express the homeowners style. Repainting your bathroom vanity is a way to revamp the space, but it might not be an easy job for everyone. Make sure you follow step by step directions and use all of the right materials. If you try and cut corners on this job it might leave you with cabinets that look less than ideal. Some really great tips and directions can be found on Maison De Pax.

7. Update Lighting

Lighting plays a crucial role in our homes. Without enough or the right lighting rooms just don't look right and gasp, you might not look good! Bathrooms usually have overhead lighting as well as vanity lighting. Changing out your fixtures can make a huge difference in the way you and your room look. If you are handy and know how to do it, changing out light fixtures is a pretty simple job. If you don't you can take that on then please make sure you higher a professional electrician. Always make safety a priority and follow all instructions before attempting an electrical job.

8. Paint Walls

Painting your walls is always a quick and easy solution for any remodel project. Changing out your color can really impact your room and make your space feel like the luxurious sanctuary you desire. One myth people always believe is that dark colors will make a space feel small. Most bathrooms are usually already small but believe me painting it a dark color will be bold and make a statement and that statement will most definitely not be that it is small. Go for it and you will love it!

Don't be afraid to make changes and go for something you really love. Start small in your bathroom with new cabinet hardware and finish up with a bold paint color or wallpaper. It is your house so make it your home! #bathroombudget #bathrooms #budgetbathroom #upgradebathroom #vanityupdate #bathroomremodel
